Finnair boosts Helsinki services from Heathrow – Business Traveller

Finnair has announced plans to increase frequency and capacity on UK and Ireland routes to Helsinki.

From November 27 the carrier will add a new weekend service departing Helsinki for London Heathrow on Saturday evenings, returning to Finland’s capital on Sunday mornings.

Seven additional flights are also being added to the route between December 17 and January 2 to accommodate festive demand. The airline is currently serving the route with 20 return flights per week.

From next month Finnair’s twin-aisle A330 and A350 aircraft will return to Heathrow-Helsinki services, providing additional capacity and upgraded seating.

Meanwhile from December 3 to 17 (and also on January 7, 2022) the airline’s routes to and from Dublin and Manchester will see an extra return service on Fridays.

Frequency between Edinburgh and Helsinki will remain at three flights per week over the winter period.

Commenting on the news Andrew Fish, Finnair general manager UK, Ireland and Benelux, said:

“We’re excited to continue our recovery and re-establish our popular frequencies from the UK and Ireland in line with customer demand for flights to Finland over the festive season.

“Finnair customers will be able to enjoy further flight flexibility when travelling for business or leisure from London to Helsinki, thanks to extra capacity for travellers eager to experience Finland’s winter period.

“We’re also pleased to be introducing extra seats on our Manchester and Dublin services to Helsinki to provide greater regional connectivity from the north of England and for our Irish customers.”

Earlier this month unveiled plans to fly to nearly 100 destinations in Asia, Europe and the US in summer 2022, including new long-haul routes to Dallas, Tokyo Haneda and Busan in South Korea.
