Jetblue and Icelandair expand codeshare agreement – Business Traveller

Jetblue has expanded its codeshare agreement with Icelandair, making connections between North America and Europe easier.

Jetblue’s current codes on Icelandair cover direct flights between New York JFK, Boston Logan International, and Newark Liberty International airports, and Iceland’s Keflavik International airport in Reykjavik.

The expansion will see Jetblue’s ‘B6’ code initially placed on seven of 24 European routes operated by Icelandair, with plans to add more in the near future. The initial routes are as follows:

  • Amsterdam Airport Schiphol, Netherlands
  • Copenhagen Airport, Denmark
  • Glasgow Airport, UK
  • Manchester Airport, UK
  • Helsinki Airport, Finland
  • Oslo Airport, Norway
  • Stockholm Arlanda Airport, Sweden

Customers travelling on connecting flights between the two carriers benefit from combined ticketing and baggage transfers, and will soon be able to redeem points on either carriers’ flights – customers have been able to accrue loyalty points from both loyalty programmes since 2017.

Robin Hayes, CEO of Jetblue, commented:

“We are thrilled to expand our partnership with Icelandair to offer our customers more options when traveling beyond Iceland. With our recent launch of services to London’s Heathrow and Gatwick airports, this expansion with Icelandair provides customers even more choice for travel across the Atlantic and the ability to enjoy a stopover in Iceland en route.”

Icelandair CEO, Bogi Nils Bogason, added:

“This year marks the ten-year anniversary of our successful partnership with Jetblue, where we have been able to offer great connections and enhanced comfort for our customers. The similarities between our business models and a strong focus on customer experience means that we can offer complementary service throughout our networks. We are very pleased to expand our partnership and offer travelers new options for connecting between the two airlines’ networks.”

The two airlines’ partnership was first launched in 2011.
