Between the star-studded Walk of Fame and the Hollywood Hills sits the Hollywood Bowl — a place where music meets nature. The modern amphitheater is in the Hollywood area of Los Angeles, California, and is a mecca for unique musical performances. For music lovers, there’s no better way to enjoy a few good tunes while watching the sun set behind the mountains of Southern California.

Famous for its location and band shell, this outdoor theater provides the unique experience of bringing together thousands of people to picnic and enjoy live music. With a seating capacity of about 18,000, the Hollywood Bowl is home to the Hollywood Bowl Orchestra and summer residence to the Los Angeles Philharmonic, and hosts hundreds of musical events each year. The new season officially starts on June 22. Performers will range from Damian “Jr. Gong” Marley to Diana Ross to Willie Nelson; the LA Philharmonic will fill the summer with top-notch jazz, classical, Broadway and world music.

The best part about going to the Hollywood Bowl is that you’re welcome to bring a picnic basket of cheese, snacks, sandwiches and wine to enjoy while listening to music under the stars. A word of advice: Call ahead if you’re planning to bring wine and make sure it’s allowed. Certain concerts don’t allow guests to BYOB, but most do.

If you’re planning on driving to a concert at the Hollywood Bowl, you might want to reconsider. Parking can be tricky (and can cost you up to $40). If you decide to drive, parking lots are available on Highland Ave. Be sure to arrive at least 45 minutes to an hour early to allow for traffic, parking and then walking to the venue.
