Public Reporting of Missing Digital Contact Information Report

The CMS National Plan and Provider Enumeration System (NPPES) Public Reporting of Missing Digital Contact Information Report is now available on data.cms.gov here. The Report contains the names and NPIs of those providers who do not have digital contact information included in the NPPES system as of December 17, 2021.

Endpoints allow health care providers to send authenticated, encrypted health information directly to trusted recipients securely over the internet. Health care organizations seeking to engage in electronic health information exchange need accurate information about the electronic addresses of potential exchange partners to facilitate this information exchange.

CMS finalized the policy to publicly report the names and NPIs of those providers or clinicians who do not have digital contact information also known as endpoints included in the NPPES system in the May 2020 CMS Interoperability and Patient Access final rule.

Providers can still provide digital contact information in NPPES now. Provider organizations can also still upload new or updated data elements for their providers in bulk through the NPPES Electronic File Interchange (EFI) process.

The NPPES Missing Digital Contact Information Report will be updated quarterly and providers may add missing digital contact information to NPPES prior to publication of the next Report.

We encourage providers to ensure their data are complete and up-to-date. Updated data that comes after the end of March 2022 will be displayed on the next quarterly refresh.
