Income Tax (IT) department officials have launched a widespread raid across approximately 40 locations associated with V Senthil Balaji, the Minister for Excise, Electricity, and Prohibition. The targeted areas include Chennai, Coimbatore, and Karur. This raid follows a previous IT department operation on G-Square, a real estate firm with purported ties to the influential first-family of the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK). Additionally, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) has conducted investigations into alleged corruption involving TANGEDCO officials. Accusations have surfaced, suggesting that TASMAC stores levy an extra Rs 10 charge on liquor bottles to fund the so-called ‘Karur team,’ reportedly linked to Balaji.
