With hybrid work patterns being favoured in many industries post Covid-19, it seems an inevitability that the search time “remote, part-time jobs” would have increased a reported 105%.

The reasons for wishing to work remotely will no-doubt vary from person to person. Based on data from the first half of 2022, and on more than 50 career categories in its database, Sutton’s firm published the top 10 categories and job titles for remote part-time work.

The 10 career categories below are ordered from highest to lowest in terms of having the most number of remote, part-time positions so far in 2022.

The top 10 remote, part-time job titles so far in 2022:

  2. Social Media Manager
  3. Bookkeeper
  4. Graphic Designer
  5. Administrative Assistant
  6. Customer Service Representative
  7. Accountant
  8. Copywriter
  9. Medical Scribe
  10. Recruiter

Perhaps the biggest surprise is the lack of mention of IT-specific work, a regular feature of any remote job type, but this may be influenced by the differentiation of full and part-time.

In addition, Flexjobs’ career coaching team proposes six must-ask questions to consider prior to switching from full-time to part-time. This is in part to help make an informed decision and to better identify and reflect on what they’re trying to achieve through a part-time career.

Social acceptance and the new normal
