Sharing a major update for Indian visa applicants in the United States (US), VFS Global has announced that it will not accept any in-person application for Indian visas in the US until further notice. The decision has been taken amidst the Covid-19 situation in the country.
Sharing an update for its customers in the US via a tweet, the global visa outsourcing firm said that its Indian Consular Application Centres in the US will not be accepting any in-person application until further notice owing to the ongoing Covid-19 developments in the USA. However, Indian visa customers can still apply via post by the postal process or through emergency visa services resumed by VFS Global in early December 2021.

To apply for a visa, the postal process, applicants must complete registration on VFS Portal (https://services.vfsglobal.com/usa/en/ind/interim) to submit a Consular application to VFS Indian Consular Application Centre (ICAC). Also, before they must fill a consular application form online on the Government of India website.
For the emergency visa service, documentary evidence needs to be provided for the visa application. The service is available for US passport holders of Indian origin and their family members required to visit India due to a genuine family emergency, such as a critical illness or the death of a family member.
